    Island Unit

A well proportioned island can create a focal feature in a kitchen and is often used as division between the kitchen and living area. Placed at the centre of a kitchen layout, a kitchen island is an additional work surface which is accessible from all sides. Where space is limited an island can be added at the end of the units, forming an L shape. Seating is more often than not used with an island to create an eating and sociable area where the family can come together. Kitchen islands consist of additional cabinets, drawers or shelving, offering valuable extra storage.
